Bluetooth headphone problems with Sony tv

I have just purchased the Sony Bravia 49XG8396. I have paired my Sony Bluetooth headphones to the tv but the sound is not coming through the headphones just the tv. i have tried unpairing and pairing again but I have the same problems. can anyone help?
