how can I see if the lense sony 18-200 has been modified for my new sony a6000

There are 3 version (of which 2 are realistic to say you might own) of the 18-200. Which one do you have?

There are several ways, this one being perhaps the easiest:

-Put your camera into AF-C (continuous autofocus)

If you see (a few or more) little green boxes moving around, you have an updated lens.
