PMB won't play AVCHD videos in Windows XP
Hi
First posting as a new member.
Have a PC with XP Home. Just done a new installation and now PMB won't recognise or play videos.
Called Tech Support, sorry only support pre-installed systems. Ha Ha. Who buys a new system with XP now and no-one told me that my XP Home would not be supported.
Anyway. Prior to the re-install PMB played the videos. Same software re-installed but Support suggets that I am short of a driver but won't tell me what!
Now I have videos recorded on my A33 which I can't play any more.
Anyone got any suggestions for this?
How to solve or maybe a converter to another programme so I don't have to use Sony any more?
Another player?
Thanks in advance.

Hello pvg2001
For general video playback, I find that the best free application is VLC player which can be downloaded from here:
It tends to run pretty much anything that you throw at it as it has a comprehensive collection of codecs at its disposal. Also, it doesn't take up too much in the way of system resources in my experience.
Thanks,
Simon

Hi Simon
Have tried that and it plays most anything except my A33 videos :-(.
With The Sony videos from my A33, the sound comes continuously but the video jumps in "bits". Hopeless.

Hello again
I have been looking into this a little more and many users have reported success using the software I mentioned before. However, for those who haven't been so lucky, many have mentioned this free software:
DAPlayer claims to have full support for AVCHD, amongst other media formats.
I hope you have more joy with this one,
Simon
