My NEX-6L with kit 16-50 doesn't photographs nightly sky. It couldn't focus on stars, though I put settings - 5/f, 120 sec, mode M, 1600-3200 iso, and tried to shoot photo with manual focus and with autofocus. So I have the feeling that the camera is programmed to think that focusing on infinity in the half-light places it is evil.
I don't know problem with my lens 16-50(kit) or with body nex-6 or with v1.03.
Anyone have same problem with NEX-6 or is my case unique?
It's neither the body, nor the lens. It's quite normal for a camera not to be able to focus on stars as they are too small (and arguably not bright enough) to focus on. And that's not a unique Sony thing and is especially the case when using wide(r) angle lenses.
Use your focus magnifier when using MF, it's priceless in those situations! (And afterwards, share your pictures with us )
