First seen with A6700. Downloaded a few images to tablet with wifi / Bluetooth, then switched camera off. Next morning found A6700 had completely flat battery. Another time downloaded some images to tablet, switched off, after an hour or so found A6700 battery compartment warm.
Now updated A1 and now uses Creators App. Downloaded a few images to tablet with WiFi / Bluetooth, then Switched camera off. Next day found A1 with completely flat battery.
It appears cameras are not switching off ?.
Anyone else seen similar?
Done 1 more test.
A1, 70-200 mk2. Samsung Tablet.
Downloaded one image to tablet with Creators App.
Stopped App on tablet, but not background app. (NOTE if l use my google pixel 7a l get same results but it doesn't show me a background app is running as clear as the samsung tablet.)
A1 said 83% battery, switched it off.
A1 wouldn't switch on.
Waited 30 minutes.
A1 still wouldn't switch on.
Removed A1 battery and re-inserted it.
A1 now reads 71% battery, so presumably something was still running in A1 for 30 minutes ?
Further testing...
Tried another 5 times with a mixture of stopping the background app or not.
It failed after the 5th time, not stopping the background app, and the A1 wouldn't switch on again.
So it's is possible it's more likely to fail if the background app isn't stopped before you switch off the A1. Although not definitive. Battery 69%
I'm waiting 3 hours to see the battery level...
After 3 hours... A1 wont switch on... remove battery...reinsert......completely flat battery !!!
Tried the A6700 again..
Similar to A1, after downloading image with Creators App and switching camera off, the camera won't switch back on without removing and reinserting the battery.
Can anybody else reproduce this issue with Creators App ?
Hey @GordonT
Could you try to save all the camera settings and share the camera setting file with us? You can find the instructions here: https://helpguide.sony.net/ilc/2420/v1/en/contents/0601_save_load_settings.html?search=save
After saving the camera settings, you can find the file as follows:
-set the camera USB mode in mass storage mode
-connect the camera to a computer
-USB Drive --> PRIVATE --> SONY --> SETTING --> 7CM2 --> CAMSET --> Here CX will find the camera setting file (CAMSETxx.DAT)
How do l upload the DAT on here ?
Hello,
I have the same issue with A7c ii
It happens to me using Creators' App both on iPad and iPhone.
I was carefully reverting to Airplane mode to avoid this issue but today it happened even atfer switching the a7c ii in airplane mode... I was surprised to have the camera hot two hours afer and I could not switch it on. And when I put a new battery it was already in airplaine mode...
Warm regards,
Arnaud
At last, someone else has seen the issue !
It's very repeatable on my A1 and A6700, on a Samsung tablet or pixel 7a.
If l switch off the camera after the download the camera may recover after a time, but of l stop the app then the switch off the camera it probably can't be switched back on, and maybe warm after a while, and eventually the battery will be flat. Removing and reinserting the battery solves it.
Are we only 2 using this feature ?
I’m now very reluctant to use the app to transfer pictures…
I really need to be able to quickly share pictures with my phone but if the downside is a huge risk to have the battery flat this is not possible.
Hey, have you tried to factory reset the camera? Test another battery?
