Xperia 1 ii hearing aid, my feedback

Some updates back i suddently had streaming capability to my Beltone amaze hearing aids, which made me quite thrilled to find out. Unfortunately only for a short while, as phone calls are not streamed, and the same goes with the dial up sound.

As Sony do not give update info i do not know if they implemented ASHA or not, but i suspect they did. But if companies like GN and etc dont have access to some programming stuff they cannot guarantee or add compability, since they need permission from Sony to do so.

So my experience with this is that, yes they stream music, and up till last update notification sounds(not anymore) No calls come through to hearing aids even it is set to do so on phone call screen, it keeps comming through phone speaker instead. If i keep my phone in a pocket, the connection falls out and is lost making it useless when away from home.

This is not something most care about, unless they are hearing impaired like me. I have a hard time hearing most people through the phone speaker, so for me and others probably this is kinda big issue.

I reached out to both Beltone and Sony, but neither can give me a solution. I just hope that some day soon this will be fixed and that there will be more support for the impaired community.

And if any has the phone call streaming working, please do tell me how you made it work.

thank you for any usefull and helpfull comments.

Hi there, sorry to hear about your issue. Were the hearing aids working fine with the device before ?

Hello @Sturmi,

did you delete your hearing aids from the bluetooth list (unpair it) and repaired it while making sure that "call audio" is also selected in the devices settings on the phone?

It works surprisingly well for most BT related issues.

No it only began to work with the upgrade to android 11, so it is new feature to come with that upgrade.

I have tried to remove them and re pair them, without any luck. I haved not performed a repair, i suppose you mean with the pc tool ? I am a bit reluctant with that since i undestand it deletes everything on the phone during that process.

Well, you can backup your data using the Google service before doing the software repair if it can help in solving the issue, check here for the instructions backup

I will try to make the repair today if i get the time to do so.

By the way, they do not have any call audio option in their settings on phone, only share contacts.

Can you try to connect your phone to any other headphones and check if it will work properly or not ?

I had the chance to pair them with a Oneplus 7 Pro today, and it worked even worse on that. When calling with them connected there were no sound from hearing aids, phone or phone speaker.

So at this point, i am a bit clueless where the problem lies, but maybe it is Beltone and not the phones or android ?

I reached out yet again to Beltone and asked for this to be fixed, still waiting for their reply.
