Hello,
I purchased an Xperia Z Ultra 6833 from a third-party seller on Amazon back in November and while I love the phone, it's been having major problems for the past month or so to the point where it is now virtually unusable. Specifically:
1) The screen goes berserk in that it seems to repeatedly read false contacts. This includes when it has just been cleaned. This is not something that happens every once in a while, but reliably whenever I use the phone.
2) The side wake-up/power button is no longer reliable in waking the phone up-- it can take repeated attempts for up to 20 seconds.
Is this product still covererd under wrranty and if so how do I initiate a replacement procedure? If not, do I have any other options?
Thanks

First,if you want to take the phone back,I do not think Sony can help you.Do you have your warranty at Sony or not?
Have you tried a software repair?
I did not purchase any additional warranty from Sony, my only hope is that it has some kind of coverage included given that the device is less than 6 months old.
I did a full factory reset and the problem was unaffected: is that what you mean by a software repair?

Your sale contract is with Amazon so Amazon is the place you need to go for redress ie: Help - The phantom touches I had with 4.3 but now on 4.4.2 it seems to be fine and I've not had so far any phantom touches and it's been a few weeks since I installed 4.4.2 - Not had any issues with side buttons so you could go through the process with Amazon or wait for 4.4.2 and see if you still experience the same issues - However if you are on 4.4.2 then Speak to Amazon, the reason for this is the 3rd party involvement
Thanks, I'll try it tonight and post my results.
I updated to 4.4.2 last night and after a day of usage I can report that it has completely fixed the unreliable power button and the touchscreen is now no more than hyperactive but manageable.
Thank you for your help
Alex
Anytime.
