Could somebody from Sony please explain why thousands of us are now 3 updates behind now regarding firmware updates?
We are still on 434!
How do we get Sonys attention on this?

Couldn't agree more. May I also add the whole point of this forum is to provide a 2 way street for both us the customer and Sony. It is to Sony detriment if they willingly choose to ignore this thread. Potential new customers may be put off and current owners may have had enough and buy elsewhere next time. It is either failure of the Mods doing their jobs properly, being negligent in the process or they have no answers due to lack of any kind of response. Either way they should say something and if it's answers they lack then those then should be pursued.
We need to keep the pressure up, the more people who complain and the more people that see this thread hopefully will get Sony to sort this ridiculous situation out and make amends.

this is just shocking from sony, and you would of thought i would of learnt my lesson: xperia u, xperia t, and now xperia z, all unbranded and all pathetic wait times for updates.. I stupidly thought that the Z would be different, better updates due to the massive marketing and advertising campaign around this phone.
im going to sell the z on ebay now, and ive also now decided im going to get an xbox one over the ps4 for this reason, had enough of sony!!
uk gets screwed by sony every time!!
its just good that i used to work for carphone warehouse, so all friends and family ask me for phone advise, and so far i have persuaded 12 people to go for galaxy s4 or htc one over the xperia z!!!

I think that we have to go to court, because we (the buyers) were deceived by the manufacturer who announced soon firmware update. But still, even no information about the date of update.
SONY required to provide such information to us!:smileyangry:

Just forget about Generic UK firmware and change to Generic ES (Spain) firmware. It contains all UK features (except the 'national roaming' option) and it seems to get updated first each time.
If you really need the possibility to disable national data roaming for your mobile operator, then you can use Generic BE (Belgium) or Generic NL (Netherlands) firmware.
All these firmwares contain all languages and work with all mobile networks.
No loss of warranty when using unmodified stock firmware without bootloader unlock

Thank you Nick89.
I know nothing about smartphones this being my first one! What is "bootloader unlock"? Do you just double click on the hyperlinks in your post and follow through to download the firmware?
Sony this is a farce. All I can say is remember the 6 degrees of sepration theory and that there are thousands and thousands of unhappy people who are voicing their opinion about the Xperia Z and Sony Support to all and sundry.

Thanks Nick89 🙂
The point is though anybody who hasn't got the update via Sony shouldn't have to go to such methods to update their firmware because of Sonys failings.
Maybe this is the reason why Sony doesn't feel any urgency to resolve this mess?
I would add a lot of people don't have the confidence to flash roms either.

A bootloader unlock is only required to flash 'custom ROMs' (unofficial software) and may void your warranty. The links I posted are all official Sony firmwares, so no bootloader unlock is required to install those.
1. Download a firmware (FTF) file from one of the links. If it's a multi-part archive, download both parts and extract it with WinRAR or 7-Zip to get the FTF file.
2. Follow this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240614
Flashtool uses the same method as Sony PC Companion / Sony Update Service / Sony Bridge for Mac to flash this software, so no extra risks are involved. Also, it's a one-time job. For example: after flashing Generic ES firmware, you will get all future software updates for that firmware from Sony (much faster than Generic UK!).

Thank you Nick89
Very good of you to come back and explain this further. I will follow the tutorial and try the install. Just looking at other posts and one that you posted I wish that Sony would hire more or better developers. For example you knew how to modify the phone for Flemish input. Why if people on here know who to fix things or suggests work arounds Sony are not bothered? Granted this might all be more complex than I understand but the fact that Sony just appear to take nothing on board and ignore probs astounds me. The new Sony logo needs to be an ostrich with its head in the sand. Even if I do install via Nick89's method I am going to continue to bump this post as the provision of firmware for the country that my phone belogns to is a minimum requirement that Sony should meet.
