So, my Xperia Z5 Compact front screen cracked by itself while resting in my hand. The touch screen below the crack doesn't work, and the part immediately above is flimsy (e.g. triple-taps by itself).
If you got it in UK, take it back to the retailer the bundle of responibly fall on the retailer not the manufactor and more improtantly for the first six months it is up to them to prove the fault was not there at the point of purchase, so you are likely to have better luck.
exactly the same problem as other people on here, except I can't even talk to sony about the issue, because I bought it through a retailer who imported it... I was contacting them about a warranty fix as the device was leaking water behind the screen and camera, as other people have stated, then about 2 weeks later, the screen cracked out of nowhere and became unresponsive! I can't believe I didn't see this thread before I bought the phone, otherwise I never would have bought it.
I have been told that the water damage was caused due to the damage sustained to the device (which is apparently my fault), which makes no sense at all because it happened AFTER the water got in...
Hi all,
My Z5c was sitting on my desk, charging, when I heard a popping sound. I looked at the phone and there it was, from lower left to middle right of the screen, a hairline crack. I handle this phone very carefully as I know it to be a brittle one - I read the reviews and user comments before I bought it. Never did I think it would break by itself.
This happened just an hour ago and I really wasn't surprised to find a forum thread dedicated to this phenomena.
Let's see what the authorised service center thinks about this.
No, it's the crappy iPad camera that distorted the picture. I didn't have anything better at hand unfortunately.
I'm sending the phone to repair center and I'll update the results here.
My is almost exactly the same but the direction of the crack, I had to pay around 90 pounds for the repair, they are not interested in repair under warranty and customer service will keep taking you round the circle and the only way out of the loop appears to either pay for repair or pay to get your phone back. Not to mention after repair my phone case was loose and I have to sent it back for an other repair.
I think if I remember correctly warranty does not cover water damage( I know for a water prove phone) so either way they are likely to refuse repair under warranty.
Another cracked screen customer here.
Left phone sitting on the bed side table and the next morning the screen was not responding. After a closer look I discovered a very small hairline crack on the lower left side of the screen. The phone was not dropped.
I've just been quoted £89.50 for the repair. I'll get the repair but I'm selling the phone as soon as I recieve it and will never buy a Sony product again. I'll make sure never to recommend this phone or any other Sony product for that matter.
Well played Sony, well played.
