Hi @Erbee, welcome to our forum!
I haven't done that myself either, but I have used a QR code to install applications in the past. Is it perhaps a QR code that you are supposed to scan? If it is, download a QR reader application from the Google Play store and scan the QR code using this application and you should be directed to the install file (apk).
