WF-1000XM4 Battery Issue is getting ridiculous

My WF-1000XM4 battery is draining very quickly, the same as a lot of the customers with this product. The left bud is out of charge after about 45 mins and right one about 1 hour - a long way off the supposed 8-hour play-time off one charge.

 

The issue seems to have stemmed from an official firmware update which is now irreversible and only makes the situation more frustrating.

 

Unfortunately, my earbuds will now be out of warranty too and ideally I don't want to fork out another couple hundred on what is supposed to be a quality product.

What is my best option?

Hey SHuntley18, if your left ear bud go under 80% within 30 minutes, your best bet is to contact Sony directly.
