Hello,
I really like these earbuds and happy that latest firmware solved the whoosh problem.
One thing that bothers me is that during phone calls ANC is disabled and ambient sounds interrupts my quiet experience.
I can't figure how to turn ANC on during phone calls, I've searched the web and couldn't find a solution.
Please add the option to make phone called in noise environment using ANC .
Hi tulipcorp, usually the ANC function is turned off during phone calls, so it is normal, not a malfunction.
Have the Noise Cancellation be turned off during phone calls should not be considered “normal”. Please give the following user story to the product team so they can quickly address this issue.
As a person on a phone call I need the noise around be to be silent (aka enable the active noise cancellation) so I can focus on the persons voice on the call and not on the noise from the outside world.
We are not the only ones experiencing this issue and others are just returning their ear buds and going with Bose instead of taking the time to provide the feedback in hopes of an update. https://www.reddit.com/r/sony/comments/o88zab/wf1000xm4_ambient_noise_during_calls/?utm_source=share...

Also make sure they don’t change the functionality when listening to music, which is a different user scenario the team has done a great job with:
as a person listening to music I need to be able to converse with others periodically while I have my headphone in so I can quickly respond to them, hear and focus on their voice response without taking my headphones off or out of my ears (aka turning on the ambient noise and voice focus when I talk).
Gotta tell you, that sound normal!
And there's even an article about it on Sony's website confirming it: https://bit.ly/3ntb6jm.
''Noise cancellation doesn't transfer during telephone calls. Although it protects the headphones user from the surrounding noise, it does not apply to the receiver of the call: they will potentially hear background noise''.
Cheers,
Everyone I call has the same problem with background noise, and complain to the point I cannot use them.
So it seems I will have to buy a different make, as this feature is default rather than an option!
Hi @GPG777, this is normal. Noise cancelling doesn't work during calls, it may reduce the noise but you still hear background noise.
