Wireless problem

I have just purchased a pink sony vaio lap top for the wife problem is i cant get the thing to connect wirelessly to the internet. it can see the wireless network but when you put the password in it says "wireless authentication failed because of a timeout" can anyone help please?

Does it connect using a network cable?

Does it connect if you turn off all wireless security?

Some routers give this problem with Vista - what wireless router are you using?

For other models, updating the wireless network card drivers seems to work.

Please reply and give the information requested and I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction.

Yes it connects using a network cable

The wireless router is a netgear DG834 Router

The vaio works wirelessly on my works network
