Will the Sony Remote Controller MCE20E will work on other Vaio

Hello I've two laptops from Sony, one is conected to my LCD (but this one dosen't have a remote controller or infrared) and the newer is the one that I use and my normal laptop going out of the house and stuff, but since this one have a remote controller (sony rm-mce20e) that to me is pointless on this laptop, could I buy a infrared usb adapter to make it work with the Vaio that is connected to the LCD? Will the remote work?

Why bother, I just use my wireless mouse as a remote contol !
Works great plus there's lots the mouse can do that a remote can't.
