Vista showing less battery time

Hi,

I've just bough Sony VAIO TZ31WN/B and setup on windows vista. But after charging full windows vista is showing total battery time around 4 hours whereas i think it should be 7 to 8 hours. I know that it will not work 7 or 8 hours but at least it should show 7 or 8 hours initially this is what i think.

Please let me know if anyone has the same model and how much battery time does the windows vista show?

Is it the problem with my battery?

welcome to Club VAIO..

I believe I read that the optimal battery life of a TZ is upto around 6 hours, however this would be under conditions similar to below..

* Full recovery with hard disk defragmented.
* No access to optical drive (Playing CD, Playing DVD).
* No access to Memory Stick.
* No external devices connected (Mouse, Keyboard, FDD, Printer).
* No communication devices active (Modem, Ethernet).
* Wireless LAN (if applicable) turned off.
* Bluetooth (if applicable) turned off.
* For security reasons, we advise to NOT disable your Anti-Virus Software, but it might affect the result.
* Brightness level set to 5.
* VAIO Power Management set to maximum battery life (Vaio optimised).
* Working only with office-type applications (not playing games, 3d rendering, video editing etc).

The time remaining that is displayed in the system tray I suspect is more realistic when using your Vaio under normal conditions..

Hopefully another member will post the time displayed on their TZ..
