VGN-FS315Z Touchpad

I have recently had my lappy reinstalled from scratch because i wasnt happy with how it was working with the partioned drive.
Everything has been reinstalled and now works fine apart from the touchpad.
It used to have a scroll facility on the right hand side and along the bottom, this currently does not work.
Does anyone have any idea of how to fix this?

I know its only minor, but i never realised how much i used it till it werent there!!

thanks
pete.

Hi sparkypete,

welcome to Club VAIO..

Did you use the Vaio recovery utility to reinstall your Vaio.?

If so this may help..

Your set-up may be slightly different..

Click on Start, then click on Control Panel.

In control Panel, select Mouse.

In the Mouse Properties window select the Function tab.

In the Function tab select Use scroll function.

Does that help with the Touchpad problem.?

There is no function tab! lol

I think thats the bit missing that is needed for it to work.

Says its using a ps/2 compatible mouse driver.

Oh i forgot to add.
Didnt use the vaio recovery cos it kept adding loads of, well for want of a better word, crap!

Reformatted the whole thing and set the hard drive as one instead of two.
This was to get round the problem with file transfers, became really complicated trying to swop things between the c and d drive, took ages too.
Flies along now!

Hi sparkypete,

download the FS315Z's Original Drivers Package, using the following link: FS315's Original Drivers Package

Once downloaded extract the files contained in the fs3-drivers.zip file..

Place the mouse drivers that you've downloaded in to a folder ie C:\Drivers\Pointing.

Go to Start > Run type devmgmt.msc and press OK, Device Manager window should open, double click Mouse and Other Pointing Devices.

Right click once on the PS2 mouse and select properties.

Select the 'Driver' tab and click on Update driver.

A new Hardware Update Window will appear, select Search for the best driver in these locations, remove the tick from floppy, cd rom and browse to the location of the downloaded Alps driver folder to included it in the search and click next.

Wait for the driver to install then click Finish, a System Settings Change window should now appear prompting you to Restart your Computer and click Yes to restart..

How good are you!!!

I had already downloaded that driver package but couldn't make that bit install.
Did it exactly as you said and voila, problem solved!

Thanks for your help.
