VGC-M1 - Sound device removed itself!

The sound device has completely disappeared from my VGC-M1. When I go into my device manager it just isn't there. I've tried everything to sort it out but to no avail. Has anyone else had this problem?
It literally worked one day then didn't the next. I've resorted to doing a complete system recovery, but that hasn't worked either! When I ran the system log, it said that SoundMAX had been removed - but I didn't remove it.

If anyone has any advice I'd be eternally grateful - it's driving me mad trying to sort it out!

Go to control panel and run add new hardware and do a search for it

I've tried that but it's totally disappeared that's why I did a full system recovery but that didn't work either.

It's actually happened before but it came back after a reboot. The only thing that I can think of that I had installed on it prior to that is Nod 32 antivirus - I think that did cause a bit of a problem with the system so I removed it, could it have caused any permanent damage?

Have you tried a manual install of the drivers? If you can’t find them on your system you can download the pre-installed drivers from Vaio-Link.

I had thought of that but haven't got internet access from home at the mo and I'm v impatient! But you're right, it's probably the best way round it - will give it ago when I get my connection sorted out.
