Vaio not downloading anything

Hi I have a 3 month old vaio VGN series and it will not download anything. It will happily download itunes and windows updates but things like google chrome or any games it just downloads and then the link to it disappears!
Anyone else had this problem?

Have you checked in the folder that you have selected to save your downloads in.
