Hi people,
I'm thinking about upgrading the harddrive in my vaio (120gb) with a bigger one,
let's say 250gb or even 320gb. I was wondering if this can be done...
A collegue gave me a conceptronic sata usb adapter which I can use to copy the
contents of the old disk to the new one using a second laptop. I then would
redo the process and format the new disk and copy all I had on the old one
to that new disk, plug it in, and boot.
Any idea's if this will work? Anyone did it before?
If this shouldn't work, I guess the second option is to use the recovery dvd's
and install from scrath all vista and sony utils (and remove all useless-ware afterwards).
Or will the recovery disks not work on newly installed harddrives?
(e.g. without a sony "signature" on the new harddrive)
If this doesn't work, lucky for me I've still got an XP oem disk at home... and I could
downgrade (without those brightness buttons problem hopefully).
If this has been asked before, my apologies, I've been looking everywhere but I couldn't
find a search funtion on these forums.
Edit: An additional question: should I need to pay attention to what type of 2.5" disk to buy?
I don't know if all 2.5" disks of different brands are 100% identical as to where connectors
are placed.
Thanks in advance for help, feedback, idea's and thoughts.
Take care,
Y.K.
