Hi undrm3,

Why do you think that it is necessary to remove the battery?

Unless you use your notebook almost exclusively as a desktop I would suggest that you leave the battery in place as this also provides a handy power reserve in the event of mains failure.

If you do wish to remove the battery then I seem to recall that approx. 60% charge is the optimum storage capacity for battery longevity.

My problem on my AR21S was that the battery would not charge, now the power meter shows the battery as being not present, even though it is. How do I know if this is a hardware or a software fault. I would like to be sure that buying a new batter would fix the problem.

Hi omotn,

a simple way to check if this is a battery or possible hardware problem is to take your Vaio to a local stockist and ask if you can try another battery in your Vaio..
