the atrac audio device can not be use with this version of sonicstage

Ok, this is my history. I had a Toshiba Laptop, I install sonicstage 2.1 CD in this laptop, and then afeter a few days I upgrade my version to sonystage 2.3 and also the firmware update to my VP. Works perfect.
I bought a New Sony VAIO laptop VGN-FS550 (it comes with sonicstage 2.1 installed), I upgrade to 2.3 version and when I connect my VP I had the next error
"the atrac audio device can not be use with this version of sonicstage"
I remove all sonicstage software in my Sony laptop, I isntall direct from the VP CD, and then I Upgrade to 2.3, (also Upgrade the Vaio music transfer to lates version) and I still have the same error.
Please HELP!!!
I thought everything will be easier with Sony devices

the whole procedure you describe might be a little confusing...
first of all why dont you transfer files from your old laptop?

as for the sony products....definately NOT...
its never easier with sony products my friend...you will have to get used to that!sorry.

now what you can do is chack some other topics that speak of this problem;there have been many!
apart from that i have nothing else to suggest.

Ok, My vaio pocket has my music and I have a backup of all my music in the new laptop, so far I have a new CD that I rip and when I tryed to transfer I found this error when I connect the VP to the New Laptop... and the error is " the atrac audio device can not be use with this version of sonicstage"

I have the same problem.

I upgraded to SS3, but then decided not to use and wait until the UK version comes out. Have reinstalled 2.3 and I get the same message as you. have even tried deleting my library on the PC to no avail. HELP!!!:smileycry:

Done it!

You need to go to the "control" option on the top left - first ensuring that the VP is connected and switched on.

Then go to the bottom of the drop down and press "initialize" - you need to be online - SS will connect to the internet - you just have to select which country you are in and then it will work fine.

You will lose all data on the VP - suggest you then transfer the data from your old PC to the new one.

Fortunately I had only transferred one album!
