Hi belgrave,

Is the cable a HDMI cable with ends like the one on the right-hand side of this link? -

If so you need a cable like the one shown or alternatively you can buy an adapter and use the existing cable - like this one: -

If the cable is different, let us know and we'll try again!

There are different sorts of DVI - have a look at the selection at the bottom of this post.

I think you have a DVI-D port on your graphics card so any cable with additional pins around the flat blade connector Like DVI-I or DVI-A will not fit. These extra pins carry analogue data in addition to the DVD-D digital data.

DVI-D male cables will plug into DVI-D and DVI-I sockets but (as you have probably found) DVI-I cables will not plug into DVI-D sockets.

I think you will find you need a DVI-D cable. As DVI does not carry sound, you will need to hook up the analogue audio L + R to the TV.
