RECOVERY OF COMPUTER USING EXTERNAL DRIVE WITH ORIGINAL VAIO RECOVERY DISC

I would like to recover my vaio using the original vaio recovery disc. My CD/DVD Rom in the laptop is not working. I would appreciate if anyone could tell me how to recovery my laptop using the original Recovery disc BUT USING AN EXTERNAL CD Rom connected to the laptop using an USB portal. My laptop doesnot have a recovery utility tool in the program folder in C Drive. At present when I insert the recovery Disc in the External Drive it recognises the disc but does not autoplay. Please Help.

Hi sankar and welcome to the forum.

As far as I am aware, recovery from an external drive is not possible. However you may possibly have a recovery partition on your hard drive (depending on your model) that you can launch on boot.

When you see the Vaio logo try tapping F10 – hopefully this will take you to the HDD recovery utility.
