Not Getting Vista SP1 through Windows Auto Update

Hi,
I've a Vaio FE41S running Vista Home Premium. I haven't yet been offered Vista SP1 through Windows Auto Update. I've got all the pre-requisite updates listed by Microsoft ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935509/ )needed for SP1. I also went through the Microsoft Troubleshooting page (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948343 ). Among the likely causes listed there, I could rule out everything except cause 5, wherein a number of audio and display drivers have been cited as incompatible with SP1.

However, being a novice at computers, I don't know how to check whether my Vaio has these drivers or not. Could you please tell me how to check this and if I do find any of those incompatible drivers, how to update them to SP1 compatible versions.

Hi Vaio-Vintage,

The Sigmatel Audio Driver is causing the problem. Sony are aware of the problem and have tried one driver update that was not successful.

Rather than wait for the new driver, most of us have downloaded the standalone SP1 Installer from Microsoft and installed it without any problems or error messages. If you have a reasonably quick broadband connection, you can download it here: -

Are you sure that installing SP1 with the standalone installer will be problem-free?
My SigmaTel driver is 6.10.5379.0 with the output configured for SP/DIF. In the other thread, people do mention that they had problems with this particular driver after the upgrade . Hence I'm feeling uneasy about using the standalone installer. The last thing I want is to mess up my system. I'd rather wait for an updated driver from Sony.

I checked the Vaio UK Support Page, but did not find any updated drivers. Why is Sony taking so long to address this issue? Are they still working on it? Can I hope for something to turn up soon?

I have successfully installed SP1 on my AR31S..

First I downloaded and installed Microsoft Hotfix Package KB937287 from Vaio-Link, use the following link to download: KB937287 Update Program 1.0

Then I downloaded and installed the Vista SP1 update, which I downloaded from HERE

I did not receive any error messages prior too, during or after the installation of the SP1 update..
