no full hd output on vga dsub(15pin)

I have tried to connect my vaio FZ21M to my bravia kdl-46v4000 via VGA cable and it works fine, but only 1360x768 output?
Vaio detects it correctly as a "Sony TV"
In display properties I cannot set higher resolution than 1360x768?

How can I get FULL HD output ?

P.S. The declaration on the TV says FULL HD and Vaio has FULL HD too.
P.S. I didn't try the HDMI cable(yet).

If by Full HD you mean playing Blu-ray etc it must be connected via HDMI for it to work. It’s to do with the format compliance. Also I believe if outputting from a laptop the HDMI connection will output 720 and not 1080 but I could be wrong on that.
