My laptop is running Vista Home Premium. Just recently it has stopped recognising either my usb 4 port hub, or my usb/ serial rs232 9 pin adapter. If I plug them in I get a message "device not recognised". Tried updating the drivers, but no change there. Strangely though if I plug in an amped 5 metre extension, then plug in either hub, or adapter it sees them ok, and they show in the device manager list, and appear to work fine. It's a real pain having 16 feet of cable wrapped round the place, anyone out there know of a solution to my problem? They both worked fine for about 18 months, and the problem doesn't lie with the hub or adapter as they both work ok on my wife's Toshiba
