Hi All
About 4 months ago I purchased a Vaio pocket (40GB). I loaded all my CDs onto it and connected the docking cradle to my home stereo system.
How convenient ..... I never need to get a CD out of the cuboard again - just click ond go !
BUT .....
That's not why I go it. I bought it because A) I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-P100 camera and B) I was just about to get married and go on a 3 week honeymoon to the far east. I thought that buying additional memory sticks would cost a fortune and at the end of the day all I would have is more memory sticks.
The Vaio was a godsend. When we went on honeymoon, we simply snapped all day, downloaded to the Vaio in the evening and then snapped all day agin the next day without worryinjg about to many photos or videos being taken.
OK, so it's a bit slow copying the photos to the Vaio, but my Camera is a USB1 model and I can live with that. I simply left it going while I had a shower and got ready to go out in the evening.
You can't watch video, but you sure can store it on the fly. and 40Gig hold a whole load of 30fps movies.
When we got home I'd transferred the whole honeymoon media to my Vaio laptop in under 30 mins (They're both USB2).
All I can say is well done Sony, you helped me capture every moment of my wedding and my honeymoon. Do you think I would be as happy with an iPod photo ? no chance !!!!!
And I forgot to mention that I had my whole CD library at my fingertips whilst I was soaking up the sun.
Just wicked !
i hardly ever use the photo function on my VP, i just bought it because i didnt want to be a sheep and get an iPod and i also think the VP looks better. The only thing that annoys me is that sometimes the Grid Sense doesent work as well as i hope it would.
PS. im not saying that buying a VP was a bad decision, far from it, but if you wanted away to save your photos to a hard disk so that you didnt have to buy loads of memory sticks then why didnt you consider this
It cost the same as the VP i bought BUT with the photo vault....
1. You need a TV to play the photos back on whist on the move.
2. It won't store and play all my CD collection.
I got best bang for buck with the VP and stand by it
