My DW-U14A DVD+-RW on PCV RS406 dosen't burn DVDs anymore

Hello,

I've got a big problem with this writer, it stopped writing to writable DVDs...

I tried several different burning software, like Nero and Alchohol 120% but wouldn't work on both.

I also tried changing the type and brand of the writable dvd disc but with no success.

This is what happens, It starts up and starts to burn, but when it starts writing the LEAD-IN it stops, and says LEAD-In failed and aborts, at the very start, hardly 2% of writing done.

Can someone tell me what i need to do to fix this problem?

I agree Vish, buy whatever you like, it's a consumer's right.

VF: no idea why, how about holding the shift key down?

I guess i will buy something different. Its just these small things that sony does, which I dont seem to like at all. For instance take the PS2, you buy one in the UK so its a PAL version, but then you have to move to the US, and none of the games you buy from there work since they are NTSC... arghh

Sorry for changing the subject, just trying to express my feelings about this.
