hello every one,
I have a strange problem with my notebook, vgn-a517m, it is 4 days old and sometimes it just stops reacting to the mouse and stops actualizing the screen. Some times I have this problem when many programs are open and sometimes right after start up. What happens is that everything stops I cant change the "active" window by clicking. The task bar at the bottom does not react nor does the start button. to get through the programs to shut them all down I have to alt+tab. after everything is saved, I push windows+l to get to the log in screen. there I can click on my name and the desktop opens up but with the same screen build as before. I can crtl+alt+del, when the task manager comes up it can click through it. if I move it around it leaves a "trace" behind it that does not go away. I tried ending process one after another but that does not help either. I pushed the power button and then the notebook begins to shut down. I get a message that says "explorer.exe" does not want to end and I have to click the manual "kill it" button. then the notebook starts again and I have about 5 mins til I have to repeat the process.
any ideas??

Make a backup DVD of your recovery partition by going to the recovery wizard under programs. Defragment over and over until the system has no latency and defrags in about 30 seconds. Then engage the use of my one and only favorite program Tune Up utilities 2006 from here and trust it. Do everything it reccommends and I mean everything especially the system optomizer function.
This can be caused by the wireless network
ok I will give it a shot and let everyone know the results.
I would also recommend that you check out your system for adware/malware.
ok I have done the things that you have all suggested. Now it does not happen as often. but it is still happening. anyone else got an Idea.
