How does the vaio laptop guarantee/warranty work?

My laptop's screen isnt working any more and I noticed the warranty has expired 10 months ago. Can I renew my warranty and get my laptop fixed now?
My friend told me that im not allowed to purchase a warranty now as warranties are only renewable from the exact expiration date, is that correct?
Thanks.

Your friend is correct.

You can only extend the warranty if you are still within the original warranty period.

Just a suggestion - but I think you will get better replies if you keep all your questions in one thread. You have separate threads about:

1. What your problem is
2. What sort of warranty you have
3. Where to get spare parts

If these were all together, anyone helping can see the whole picture - not just fragments.

1. What your problem is
I had this laptop only for a year and half never done any physical damage, it is was in excellent condition until the screen went crazy. Its a bit difficult to describe but mainly all the colors got mixed up, ive attached an image of the screen do have a look.

Connected to an external monitor and the screen is perfectly fine, so the video card is fine. Then i bought a brand new inverter and replaced it with the old one but still messed up screen

My only guess is now it may be one of the cables from the bottom part of the laptop to the screen or the screen it self. the screen itself is a 17" high definition very expensive stuff around $1,500.

2. What sort of warranty you have

General warranty with overseas repair service which i forgot to renew.

3. Where to get spare parts

I checked the website adviced but the lcd is so expensive.

Sorry for too many threads i made a bit of mess.

Thanks for that.

Unfortunately a screen print looks fine at my end because your Vaio sends an image of what it thinks it is showing. It thinks it is showing the perfect image. For us to see your problem you will need to use a camera to take an image of your screen.

You are right, a replacement screen is going to cost $1,000 to $1,500 and for that you could buy a new laptop.

Perhaps eBay for a cheap or broken AR21S...?

Thank you and sorry to bother you again.

It seems like all these screens are the same but hige price difference, the first one is official and reliable but around £2,800 :open_mouth:
second and third ones are way cheaper im just worried they are not High Definition. Is there any way of telling if a screen is HD or not? Because in any of the specs there is no definittion for it.

All the screens are High Definition. A HD screen is WUXGA 1920X1200.

On paper they do look the same.

I can't help with a recommendation though!!!

Good Luck.
