Help - bluetooth - Camera, Fingerswipe - I am a total idiot!!!

Hi

I have a vaio laptop, PCG-9Y1M. As I am a complete idiot I managed to download a hideous virus and had to have everything reinstalled on the laptop.

In doing so I have lost my bluetooth application (and the motioneye, and finger swipe functions). I really want them back - but have no idea what to do!

Can anyone help - and can you make any help idiot proof as I am utterly useless! :slight_frown:

Thank you in advance for any help

Hi Mel,

welcome to Club VAIO..

Did you use the Vaio recovery utility to re-install everything or did you use your own copy of Vista.?

Has your Vaio's hidden HDD recovery partition been deleted.?

You can check this by clicking Start then click Control panel.

In Control Panel click on Performance and Maintenance, then click on Administrative Tools and finally click on Computer Management..

A new window should open click on Disk Management and maximise the window .

You should see Recovery Partition and C.

If the recovery partition is still present then this will allow you to re-install the original Operating System, drivers, utilities and pre-installed applications and bring your Vaio back to the factory as new settings.

To do this start your Vaio and when you see the Vaio logo screen press F10 repeatedly this normally would start the recovery process..

Or

Alternatively you can download the Original Drivers and Utilities for your Vaio, use the following link then select your model in the drop down list to download the update: Sony Support Downloads

As far as I am aware a chassis code PCG-9Y1M is a VGN-BX41VN..

Thanks for the reply!

I have followed the steps you suggested, and found C, but I cannot see the Recovery Partition. I did the F10 thing anyway, and nothing happened.

So I am trying the downloads. I think I did them yesterday though - but I still cannot see anything working! :worried:

As I said I am an idiot when it comes to PC's - so if you can give me any idea how to check if it downloaded, and how to make it work if it is I would be really grateful!

Thank you very much
