Fresh XP Installation on a VGN-S4XP/B?

Hello!!

I've just bought a Vaio VGN-S4XP/B in Spain and since I'm accustom to use XP in English I would like to re-install the Operating System with my licensed English XP.

The point is that I've read in some forums that drivers will not work correctly if the OS is not installed thru the Vaio Recovery CDs/DVDs.

Is this true?. If so, Where can I get English Recovery CDs/DVDs for my model?. I know the USA website, but exists also for Europe? (http://servicesales.sel.sony.com/web/index.jsp).

Hi chesarino and welcome to Club Vaio.

All the required drivers and utilities are available at
Vaio-Link and are not language specific.

There is a set procedure for installing these drivers and utilities on top of your own copy of XP, have a look here for guidance – ignore the references to US support sites and download all you need from Vaio-Link.

If you decide to install the Sony applications from your original recovery disks, these will of course be in the original language.

Hello again Rich912!!

I have talked with Vaio support and they have told me that if I install XP from another CD (not the Recovery one)... I will have problems with Vaio drivers...

Is this true? I'm confused with this subject.
