Click to DVD BD update - VAIO VGN-AR41S ... one more install failure

Hi,

once more, today, I was invited to download a VAIO update:

Click to DVD BD Update 3.0.20.17080

I did and try to install this manual update. It failed ! and this is not the first time the same update shows up and it won't install.

The first message says that VAIO Video & Photo Suite is already the latest version then a second message states:The version of Click to DVD BD present does not meet this setup's minimum requirements. This installation requires 3.0.00 or later !

Now, what is wrong: VAIO update site can't figure if I need an update or not? or is it the update file that fails? It is named : SOACTB-01526802-UN.exe size 16,767KB

Thanks in advance

Hi Niska,

what version of Click to DVD do you currently have installed on your Vaio.?

To check the version number, launch Click to DVD, then click on Help on the tool bar (top left) and then click on About..

Hi Niska,

that could account for your problem - Click to DVD BD v 3.0.24.11200, which was released on 18/12/2007, is newer than the Click to DVD BD Update 3.0.20.17080 that you are trying to install..

Right,
I should have checked. Thanks

Still I am surprised that the update routine does not detect the existing version before it offers you to update it.

Now that it is listed in the manual update, how do I get rid of it? Deleteing the folder in C:\Update does not get rid of the listing. It only clear the grey check box and remove the downloaded yellow icon.

Vaio update usually lists updates that haven't been installed on your Vaio, if you delete the C:\update folder Vaio update will presume that the update hasn't been downloaded and usually appears on the update list again.

Unfortunately as far as I aware now that the newer version of Click to DVD has been installed the only way to remove the older versions from the manual update section would be to run the Vaio recovery utility..

If it was me and everything was working on my Vaio then I wouldn't want to do a recovery just to clear the updates from the list..
