Xperia M autostarting and power button issues

Hey folks,

my year old Xperia M has lately run into some rather annoying issues.

The power button stops functioning every now and then. It either takes a good long press to get it working or it completely refuses to respond. Its working just fine one second and then not so much the next.

Also a few times, the options of reboot and shutdown that pop when you long press the power button come up. Now as far as I can tell, the button on the back panel and the phone don't look stuck or anything to me.

Another strange thing is that when this happens and I take the battery out, the phone boots up as soon as I stick it back in. No need to even put stick the battery in completely, just have to make contact with the pins.

The only explanation I can think of is that the power button is stuck somehow as these are issues that would crop up if it is but the buttons seems fine to me so I just want to confirm that is indeed the issue before I take it to the service centre or if there's something else I can do at home.

Cheers.

It'll be wise to contact your local Xperia care as it might be a hardware issue

Yep looks like it. Tried my neighbor's M's back panel and battery and the problem still persists.

Looks like a trip to the service centre beckons.

Thanks for the assistance.
