Should I replace my Sony with a Kindle?

Once I finally manage to download and sync a book, the experience of reading on an ereader is far more pleasant than I'd expected, however I'm glad that it's not just me that finds the software totally unintuitive and infuriating to use.

But between the software and feeble battery life, I'm almost hoping my Reader Touch will die a death soon so that I can replace it with a Kindle. Does anyone have any experience of any other readers, with which to make comparisons? I don't suppose books in the e-pub format are transferrable??

Software  -   absolutely, totally, without any hesitation or doubt....agree !!!!!!!!

In a word, rubbish.

And they don't care.

But, battery life ?

I must say I've been pleasantly surprised, despite always leaving it in sleep mode. I did get a wall charger as well,( which is so handy it's ridiculous they don't supply one with it ) just in case, but have only used it once .

And I have developed the habit of plugging into the PC if I'm on it for any length of time.

Perhaps I've just been lucky with my battery ?

Hi,

I do not have any issue with my batterie. I never missed a plug.

But I agree with you about the software. Now I use Calibre which is available for free (www.calibre-ebook.com).

It suites to my needs. It is also possible to get newspapers al over the world on your device.

You should try it.

Cheers

Michael

Hi both

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I've bought a plug charger, and it certainly takes much less time to recharge this way than by plugging into a pc. It's a pity you can't read while it's charging though.

I'm not a particularly heavy reader, but I don't get anywhere near two weeks' of reading in between charges, as promised elsewhere on this site (let along 7000 page turns I believe I read when I bought it!). It's usually less than a week between each recharge.

I'll have a look at the Calibre site.

Thanks again
