A message appears when the device is connected saying:
Unable to locate the file. file has been moved, renamed, or deleted
I can see the files on my PRS-350 in Windows Explorer.
As error messages go this one is utterly useless. I've only just installed the reader software, so have not done anythingt to its files.
Saying which file would be a big help.
I'm guessing that 'Reader Library' isn't working properly under 64 bit Windows 7.
If anyone has any helpful suggestions, (keep them clean) I would appreciate them.
Hi it would appear from the image provided, that you have files already in your library, if this only happens when you connect the PRS-300 it would indicate a file in your PC Library that you had added to the Reader Library is no longer available, i take it you have sync enabled on connection, that is why the message comes up as the software cant find the file you had imported, i would recommend deleting all files from the Library view on Reader Library and re-import all the files you would like to Sync with your Reader, this should resolve the problem, the fault is not the Hardware, it is just a file you have added is damaged or cant be found, by the software.
I think that it's disgraceful that they do not provide proper support for their ebook readers!

The image just shows that the error occurs every time I connect the PRS-350, if Sony Reader Library is installed on the PC. If you read all of this thread you would understand that the error has been present since I first installed Reader Library from the PRS-350 by following the instructions in the box!
I managed to copy books onto the PRS-350 using Calibre, but DRM protected books cannot be copied with Calibre.
I've deleted all of the books from the Sony Reader Library's database several times and carried out the hard reset procedure twice, because that is the only way I can persuade ADE (adobe digital editions) to recognise the PRS-350 and copy DRM protected books to it.
If there is a corrupted file it must be in the hardware, because it has been present since I first attached the PRS-350 to a PC and the message appears whether I connect the PRS-350 to my Windows 7 PC, netbook, or Windows XP PC.
I think that I have unfortunately exceeded Waterstone's refund/replacement period, so I'm stuck with this buggy device. Needless to say I won't be recommending it to any of my friends, or relatives, they aren't computer literate enough to ovecome its faults.
I had already explored the link you provided and it doesn't have anything relevant to my problem.
Thank you for providing the address and phone number, I'll ring them on Monday.
Formatting the memory solved the problem for me in my prs 650. But just for few(2-3) days.(I made sure that i ejected the reader properly all the time). I have formatted the internel memory 5 times for the last two weeks. Decided I am not going to do it again. I would stop using the sony library and move totally in to calibre. but the only problem is the books that have DRM.
I agree, Reader Library is rubbish, but we're stuck with it because of DRM.
I've discovered that since my last reformat and hard reset Adobe Digital Editions works, provided Reader Library is installed on the PC. This means that I can transfer DRM locked books without ever starting Reader Library.
It isn't what I would call a satisfactory solution, but it is working at the moment.
I would have returned the reader as defective, but I've spent so long messing about trying to find a solution that I've exceeded Waterstones DOA period, which I think is pathetically short (1 week?).
