I am having some issues with gmail notifications on my new Xperia 1 iii.
Sometimes i do get the notifications, but most of the times i have to manually open the gmail app to see if i have new mail...
All notifications are set to ON in the app.
I have removed all battery saving features for Gmail.
After first install (moving everything to new phone automatically) i tried factory reset and installed everything from scratch manually.
Still no banana... 😞
Someone else having this issue?
I also have this problem. Another related issue is the notification LED does not light up for Gmail even though I have gone through every possible setting to make sure it is selected. I do not know if Gmail worked out of the box because while I was still in the process of setting things up I received my first update = .23
It seems that it did not work after applying this update. I contacted Sony tech support and they called me yesterday 9/15/21 and I informed the tech that I had received a second update = .92 and that I was not entirely sure if Gmail was working properly or not! He said that he would get back with me in a few days as they try to figure out what the problem is. My understanding is that they are aware that several people are having the same issue and they're working on a fix.
I hate that Gmail is installed as service. This prevents you from truly uninstalling it to see if a reinstall helps. I think that there's a setting that we don't have access to that is allowing the phone to put Gmail into a deep sleep every time the phone is locked. So I am hopeful that they get this figured out real soon!
.
No, unfortunately still an issue.
I'm also using another mail app currently (although i do not like it).
Hey everyone,
Have anyone tried to report this to Sony? or should we start doing that ?
I had a chat session with Sony support, but after going thru all the usual questions about settings, battery etc, they told me its likely a gmail issue.
I'm not entirely convinced if thats the case.
Using another mail app atm, but i would really like to use google apps mostly.
I have now tried Bluemail, Spark and Email (amobear studios). All these 3 manage to detect new mail and display notifications just seconds after a new mail has arrived in Gmail.
But i would like to use the Gmail app. This is increasingly frustrating. There is also a thread on Reddit about it.
Xperia 1 iii updated to Android 12 (UK ver.). I confirm that the problem still continues. All workarounds have been tried without success.
Hey @akitoldn, have you tried to clear the email app's cached data and uninstall its updates?
I'm so sick and tired of this.
I went from a cheap phone to Sony flagship.
I had NO issues on my cheap phone and never had similar issues.
6 months later this BASIC function is still not working!
I thought Sony had good support but i guess i have to revaluate...
Hello Piscie New, thank you for taking your time to respond.
Yes, I have already tried all this, in addition to all the other solutions found in the XDA and Reddit forums (re-synchronize google account, reinstall, clear cache, put in the battery exception, and a long etc). This problem has already been posted on Sony support and Google support. You can see all the workarounds tried here and none of them work. The app keeps going into a deep sleep state and notifications don't appear unless you open the app manually. This problem comes from months since Android 11 and I thought that in Android 12 it was going to be solved but we are still the same. I leave you all the links so you can see all the solutions that have already been tried. Greetings!
