BD/DVD UBP-X800 Player stopped working

My 2 year old UBP-X800 BD/DVD player has suddenly stopped working. It will not power up either using the front panel button or the remote control. The fuse in the mains plug has not blown and the batteries in the remote are OK.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

If you can get inside it fairly easily, look for an internal fuse and see if that has blown. I had a BluRay player (though not Sony) where this had happened.

So I replaced the fuse with an equivalent, after which it didn’t blow again. (Though there is always the possibility that it might, perhaps even at once, if there is a deeper problem on the boards).
