Software Update v8.881 for KD-43XF7073

I have noticed on the Sony website that there is a new software update available for my TV,

a KD-43XF7073, the new version is v8.881.

Using the TVs own software update function it reports that there is no new update available.

I have checked and double-checked that the new update is compatible with my TV.

So I decided to download it to my mac. It downloads as a zip file and that automatically opens to

a .pkg file, which on trying to open it throws up an error that it cannot be opened.

Do Sony not provide a mac version of the software update, and if so why not

they make a mac version of the Sony Channel Editor.

Anyone with information.
