Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Definately the right adapter and the mains supply has always been fine in the past so I suspect that there must be some failure in the PC.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi,

My original power adapter broke last week so I bought another off ebay - plug it into mains and green light came one fine - as soon ass I plugged it into the back of the laptop it crackled and light went out - replaced fuse on power lead and still no light so I assume my laptop has broken the new power adapter!

Any ideas?

This is an old laptop and worst case scenario I need to find someone with a laptop that can charge a battery for me so that I can get some files off the PC.

Cheers,

Mike

it is impotant to get the right adapter for your laptop, why not try kessington. Also if that is the second power adapter, check where you are pluging it into(power outlet). A volt stabilzer is recomended, get the laptop power port checked as it is not normal for it to make a crackling noise. are you sure that what you bought of ebay is giving out the correct output?
