I'm having exactly the same problem, even after running a c drive recovery the TV tuner doesn't appear and I can't install the drivers for the PCI device windows keeps finding.

This is a real pain, the TV tuners never been any good and now it's completely knackered.

When I get chance I'm going to try a complete system recovery for both c and d drives but I need to do some backups first.

I tried install the mpeg decoder drivers for this device but windows just says they are not the correct ones. this sucks big time.

I found this FTP site with all sony's drivers on but none of them work.

ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/Vaio/

If anyone here manages to solve this sh!t please post the solution.

cheers

Mart

Sony, pull your socks up.!!!!!!!!

@DaveEboy:

Can you tell me exactly what the problem description is, and what driver files (if any) are currently being used along with the version numbers?

If at all possible, if you can find the master INF (information and installation code) file, and reproduce the NT.Addreg registry section, along with references to the files, this would help, as I can ascertain from this how the drivers are being installed and provide further feedback.

It may be the case that an additional component driver or DLL is needed which might not be supplied, so the INF file is most valuable. If you have got a copy, I would be most grateful if you could reproduce in particular the files it references.

That might do it.

Before you start laughing there are many programs out there that get screwed up by the date. APC Powerchute for instance recently went bananas over July 26th and started denying access to windows terminal servers, wind back the date, update the software and jobs a good one.

Might try it later but fed up of restoring every five minutes right now.

Have you tried cleaning your fans in this computer? Use compressed air whilst the unit is offline to remove dust and debris, this will reduce the temperature of the unit, and ultimately fan noise and increases stability.

Sadly Sony seem to be pretty cr4p for driver updates. Have you tried the non-OEM (i.e. Nvidia/ATi etc) graphics drivers instead?

The trick here is to remain very patient with Sony, as difficult as it is, because if you assertive (not rude or aggressive) they will often escalate the case further. Just keep on their backs until something gets done.

There are a few people on this forum, including myself with a very similar problem with the TV tuner. Sony e support say that it is a hardware fualt with my PC, but reading the forum makes me think that it is to do with softare, as occasionally I do get an "unknown PCI device" in the device manager, that simply wont install, yet I know it is the SOny MPEG REalTime encoder board.
