I've sold my Vaio Pocket because...

Hi guys,

I have sold my vaio pocket. I felt in love with the Sony Network Walkman HD5. Yes, it does not have a color screen, it has no grid-sense touch pad and no 40GB hard disk. These are my reasons why I bought the HD5:

- much more suitable for on-the-road listening
- much more simple and tactile navigation (yes, forget the grid sense!)
- much better battery performance (yep, > 50 hours!)
- much better (and louder -> see hack for it) sound quality

so the vaio pocket is a great gadget but it has a lot room for improvements. The vaio pocket is not a great music player and not a great image presenter. Have you ever tried to move images from your cybershot to the vaio pocket? It's soooo slowly! Well, the HD5 is a real iPod killer. It's a WALKMAN, nothing less and nothing more. It's a very strong performer.

So what do you think????

Ive had an HD1 since it was released, you will not be dissapointed with the HD5 there even better, as you say its a Walkman and nothing else! smaller, lighter, longer life and of course its a Sony!! lol

HD5 is a cool piece of kit. As you say a rival for the iPod at last

But would I change my VAIO Pocket for one?

My VP suits me fine and don’t think I would change it for something with a smaller hard drive and no colour screen

G-Sense is one of the best features– again not something I would change.

I don't think the HD5 has an in-line remote - which would make it useles for me.

For these reasons an HD5 would represent a significant down grade from the VP

To reply to your comments:-

Battery performance suits me just fine - I’ve been using the VP every day for 6 months and have never run out of power

- much better (and louder -> see hack for it)
The limit on volume is there for a reason- using a hack to remove it exposes you to the very real possibility you will damage you hearing. If you think the VP is too quiet buy some better(more sensitive) headphones.

sound quality –
An improvent on the VP? - I very much doubt it

All of the Sony HD Range has G protection, remotes are also available! RM-MC35ELK & RM-MC60ELK will work apparently, I just stick the thing on random:smileygrin:

The VP is definately a cool bit of kit but for a small form factor you cant beat the HD's!!

It is only slow if your camera operates at USB 1 !! If your camera was USB 2, it would be a lot quicker.

The Vaio pocket operates at USB 2 and so if it is slow, then it is the lowest common denomenator (your camera) which is causing the problem.
