Problem with DVD Drive on my VGC-V2M...

Hi Guys,

Its come to my attention that my DVD Drive on my Sony VGC-V2M (Which is now 3yrs old!) is not writing DVD's but only CD's. Is there a way of replacing the drive and if so could someone point me in the direction of how much this would cost?
I don't want to purchase a new machine just yet as my finances are at an all time low due to the fact my wife is expecting our first child within the next couple of months!

If it's around £100 I don't mind that, as this machine as been super, and I do all my website designing and software development on it.

Cheers for the info. I am convinced it's definatley a faulty drive now! I have the DVR-K14L in my VGC-V2M and the firmware that is on the updates does not want to install for some reason. I've tried all manners of trying to install it.
It looks as if I will be attempting to purchase a new one for this super little machine as I don't want to purchase a new machine just yet.

I'll keep you informed if I get any success!!

I'm currently hunting down a DVR-K14L as we speak.
I just love the Sony VGC-V2M, and I'll be running this machine into the ground before I go and purchase another Sony all in one PC.

Can anyone tell me which is the replacement for the Pioneer DVR-K14L now?

Hi Guys,

I think I've found a shop on the internet that sells a drive I can use in my VGC-V2M, but I'm not 100% sure.
Which drives can I fit into this PC? does the VGC-V2M use Laptop drives?
