No Sound on my laptop

Can someone tell me how I get sound for brand new my sony vaio laptop, it's not been muted and itunes won't play either, it doesnt even move when i press play, there's no sound at all. I must've done something silly- it was working before. I have tried the possibilities on control panel and I have tried troubleshooting it but none of them helps. Any ideas?

Hi kel1203

If you have not already done so, check in Control Panel > Sounds that Speaker/HP is set as the default playback device.

If that is OK then check that there are no problems highlighted in Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers.

Thanks for replying I saw it via email yesterday and was going to do those ideas this morning....it is miraculously working now, it seems to be a 'blip'- a bit worrying but at least its working again i'll see how it goes.
