Cannot get my Vaio Laptop to work with Panasonic TV using VGA to HDMI Converter box

Hi,

I have an old Vaio laptop, VGN-N38E/W and I am trying to get it to connect to the HD TV in order that I can watch IPlayer etc on larger screen. So far I have:

Bought a VGA to HDMI converter
Connected the Laptop to the converter using the VGA cable
Connected the TV to the converter using the HDMI cable
Plugged in the audio cable
I have gone into the control panel and set up the second monitor, as 'extended display' and setup the display resolution.
I have tried to link the Laptop to the TV but all I get is a blank screen on the TV. I have tried pressing the Fn and F7 keys together and separately but it has not made a difference.

Any help would be appreciated, as every thing I have read states that doing all of the above should work!!

Can you give us a link to the particular VGA to HDMI converter you are using?
