Hi. My Sony Vaio SVE14A1S1EW (E-series) CD/DVD driver has stopped working. I've been using two days to try fix this problem on my own. Which is a software problem somewhere as it works without any complains in window's safe mode.

I have tried followed options:

1. Delete all lowerfilters and delete n reinstall the driver in Device Manager. (I could not see any upperfilters??)

2. Set my Vaio back to factory settings

3. clean the lazer head with spirits and a q-tip.

4. look for updated drivers (apperantly already using the currently updated)

I have been told by a computer genius through a contact at the city hall that Vaio IS a great computer... But this problem has been seen on many of their laptops because Sony want to make money on the repair which usually is just clicking a few buttons... I do choose to believe these allegations are not true. So please help me out.. not that I need it much. But I'd like my expensive Sony Vaio to be fully functionally.
