hi there, its me again...

wondering if there are any technicians around who can help me understand this:

I have a pcg-sr21k that i have opened up. the touchpad and speaker didnt work.

i got spare parts and changed the long cable from the small board on top that connects to the motherboard.

so far so good. when the palm rest is upside down resting on the keyboard, i get sound. touchpad doesnt work.

however when i put the palm rest in the normal position again, like when im fitting it in, the sound goes.

it tried jiggling the long cable, but to no avail, same thing.

touchpad never worked. i even changed it, changed the whole palm rest board (that connects speaker and touchpad)...

anyone has any idea why it only works when connected upside down? (postion determines it)

and why touchpad doesnt work?

might it be the connector on the motherboard itself that is faulty?

Cheers for answering!id be really grateful if someone could sort that one out

If it works in one position and not another it is likely to be a dry connection that is failing on movement/position. There are proprietary sprays that may solve the problem in the short term. Have a word with your local PC repair centre.

No idea on the touchpad - is it registered in Device Manager?
