Problem with A 77 internal mic

I have now had two Sony A77's and both worked really well apart from the internal mic when recording movies. The mics both sound 'one legged ' with hardly any audio, just noise. I can only hear any sound if I shout near the mic!!! An external mic worked in both cases. WEX have been very helpful and confirmed the first camera had a duff mic. We are waiting for more tests on this batch before I get this one replaced as there may be a shortage.

So I got a full refund from WEX as they had no more working cameras! I bought one from Cardiff cameras and they delivered it before 9 am the next day. I have been shooting with this new camera for nearly a week now and have also updated the firmware to 1.04 from 1.03. I now have got around to testing the external mic - as internal mic worked fine. The fault now is that the camera stays on internal mic all the time!!! Having spent quite a lot on external mics, this is a bit annoying!!!

Anyone out there with one of these should therefore test the mic and its switching....

After phoning Sony I find the fault can be cured by resetting the camera with the external mic plugged in. This has to be done more than once to make it work. Now I have a few dead pixels that form a red spot when videoing!! Just to the bottom right of centre!!! visible on a dark background. Not obvious in photos though....
