Nex-5n camera battery problem

My new nex-5n camera apears to enter sleep or power save mode if accidentally left on. However the battery becomes very hot and discharges power which seems to defeat the purpose of automatic power save mode. Can anyone advise if there is a fault here? The shop were not sure.

Even modern batteries will lose power to a certain degree when not in use and at the same time, batteries and chargers will always heat up. However, if the level of heat in the battery is concerning you i.e. too hot to hold or touch then I would advise getting a second opinion to be on the safe side.

If the camera is still within the 12 month warranty, you should contact Sony Customer Services directly for some further advice and if necessary, they will be able to arrange an inspection or repair. The contact details can be found in the following thread:
