How to change settings after accidentally selecting "always" option

So I went to change my phones text message alert and after picking a file to look in accidentally selected "always use this option" and of course it was the wrong file!

Without doing any major reset of the phone is there any way to undo this option?

I've looked and cant seem to deselect it

It's running marshmellow btw

Go to the app you have selected as default (under settings - apps) and open by default should be there.

I've looked in there and I cant find what I've set as default

When I open the notification sound option in the messaging app the options I get are the basic bleeps and blops type noises. I want to get into the music player as that's where the sound I normally use is stored

Any ideas?

Have you also looked at sound picker app? If nothing helps, you can reset app preferences, which will reset all open defaults you might have set.

@ak301719 To reset app preferences, go to settings - apps, tap on the 3 dots and there you have it.
